Our Farms

Seajoy has almost 3,000 hectares (6,000 acres) of Pacific white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) under cultivation in Ecuador, Nicaragua and Honduras. Approximately 75 percent of our production comes from our farms in the Gulf of Fonseca, along the Pacific coast border of Honduras and Nicaragua.

Our largest hatchery, Larvicultura del Pacifico S.A., is also located in the Gulf of Fonseca. Here our scientists genetically select the fastest–growing, healthiest shrimp. Eggs from these shrimp are hatched and the small shrimp larvae (nauplius) are raised and then introduced to our ponds. By selecting for the best growth characteristics, including resistance to disease, we can grow shrimp with a higher survival rate while avoiding the need to use any antibiotics or treatments. We never cut corners or compromise when comes to what’s best for our shrimp. That’s why we use only the best feeds and stock our ponds at low densities.
